Dr. Karla Ballman

Computational Biology and Biostatistics Core Co-Leader

Currently, Dr. Karla Ballman is a tenured Professor and the Chief of the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology and is responsible for overseeing the statistical support for all researchers on the Weill Cornell Medicine campus as well as researchers at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

This includes providing support in study design, analyses and interpretation as well as providing data management support. Dr. Ballman will act as the co-Director of the Computational Biology and Biostatistics Core and has relevant experience that includes her role as the biostatistics core director for a (Mayo Clinic) Brain Cancer SPORE and for a (Mayo Clinic) Prostate Cancer SPORE.

Currently, Dr.  Ballman is the Biostatistics Core director for the SARC Sarcoma SPORE. Dr. Ballman has considerable experience and expertise in cancer research that includes study design, analysis, and interpretation for clinical trials, translational studies, and basic research studies.

She also has experience in the development and conduct of clinical trials in cancer at all stages: phase I, phase II, and phase III as well as the development of genomic based signatures for prognostic and predictive purposes.
