MOVEMBER – Patient Advocacy

The Movember Foundation is dedicated to making a difference for men’s health in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Each year during the month of November, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas come together to raise funds and awareness for men’s health.

This year, Weill Cornell Medicine faculty and staff participated in the initiative once again as part of the ”Wild Weill Cornell Mos” team with a kick-off Mo-ment on Thursday, November 1st. Mo Bros across the institution grew “Mos” aka mustaches, throughout the month of November as a way to inspire donations and conversation around men’s health. The Wild Weill Cornell Mos also participated in Movember’s ”Move” initiatives with boot camp and group yoga events at the New York Health & Racquet Club on Sunday, November 18th. This year launched our first Movember Running Group which aimed to walk/run 60 miles over the month of November to raise awareness for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour. The Wild Weill Cornell Mos also hosted their first Chipotle fundraiser, on November 20th with a percentage of all proceeds donated to Movember. The final event of the month was a closing celebration to raise additional funds and acknowledge the team’s advocacy and awareness efforts throughout the month.
